180° Quarter-turn Pneumatic Actuator
The 180° quarter-turn pneumatic actuator is a high-angle rack and pinion pneumatic driving device with a standard 0°~180° full rotation stroke, serving as an upgraded version of conventional 90° actuators.
Product Definition
The 180° quarter-turn pneumatic actuator is a high-angle rack and pinion pneumatic driving device with a standard 0°~180° full rotation stroke, serving as an upgraded version of conventional 90° actuators. Adopting a symmetrical dual-piston rack and pinion transmission structure, it realizes precise bidirectional 180° rotary opening and closing, available in double-acting and single-acting spring return types with adjustable end angles for selected models.
Specially designed for working conditions that cannot be satisfied by standard 90° actuators. With a compact structure and stable operation, it complies with ISO5211 universal mounting standards and can be equipped with various pneumatic accessories for automatic control.
Core Features
Standard 180° ultra-long stroke: Full coverage of 0°~180° rotation angle, solving the stroke limitation of 90° actuators for special scenarios such as multi-channel diversion and workpiece flipping.
Dual driving modes optional: Double-acting (position holding after air loss) and single-acting spring return (automatic reset after air failure) are available for common and fail-safe working conditions.
High-precision rack and pinion transmission: Symmetrical piston structure delivers uniform and stable output torque, jitter-free operation, high repeat positioning accuracy and excellent wear resistance.
Adjustable mechanical stop design: External adjusting screws at both ends allow fine tuning of start and end angles for on-site precise commissioning without disassembly.
Durable cylinder construction: Precisely extruded aluminum cylinder with hard anodized anti-corrosion surface, featuring wear resistance and aging resistance for long-term service.

Technical Advantages
1. Superior working condition adaptability: Breaking the stroke limit of traditional 90° actuators, it completes 180° full-angle diversion and flipping directly without complex connecting rod mechanisms, simplifying equipment structure.
2. Higher operation stability: Pure mechanical rack and pinion hard transmission provides larger output torque, zero position drift and strong resistance to air pressure fluctuation, more suitable for continuous high-frequency operation than vane-type 180° swing cylinders.
3. Flexible commissioning and adaptation: Independent fine adjustment of angles at both ends compensates for installation deviations of non-standard valves and flipping mechanisms, with better on-site adaptability than fixed-stroke actuators.
FAQ
Q: Are 180° pneumatic actuators available in single-acting and double-acting types?
Yes. 180° pneumatic actuators are mainly divided into double-acting (DA) and single-acting spring return (SR) types. The DA type is driven by air pressure in both directions and holds the current position when air supply is lost. The SR type is equipped with built-in springs and automatically returns to the preset safe position upon air failure for fail-safe applications.
Q: Can 180° actuators replace 90° actuators?
Replacement is not recommended. The two types have different strokes and control logic. The 180° large-angle stroke is used for diversion and flipping, while the 90° stroke is for standard valve opening and closing. Forced replacement will cause over-limit stroke, seal damage and control failure. Each model is only applicable to its dedicated working conditions.
Q: Is the rotation angle of 180° actuator adjustable?
Yes. Standard models are equipped with external mechanical adjusting screws at both ends for fine tuning of 0° start position and 180° end position to compensate for installation errors. Over-range adjustment is not supported, and it cannot be adjusted to a fixed 90° stroke. A dedicated 90° actuator is required for 90° working conditions.
Q: What valves and equipment are compatible with 180° actuators?
It is mainly compatible with 3-way diverting ball valves, 4-way diverting valves, large-angle air duct dampers, material flipping mechanisms and automatic assembly line reversing jigs. It is not applicable to conventional 2-way ball valves and butterfly valves (90° actuators are the preferred choice for standard 2-way valves).
Q: Is the air pressure requirement consistent with conventional 90° actuators?
Fully consistent. The standard working air pressure is 0.2~0.8MPa, with the optimal recommended pressure of 0.4~0.6MPa. The air supply needs to be dry and filtered in line with ISO8573 clean air standards, compatible with factory conventional pneumatic systems.
