Product Definition
The 3-position rack & pinion pneumatic actuator adopts rack-pinion structure with auxiliary piston mechanical stop. Different from standard 2-position actuators, it realizes three stable mechanical positions: fully closed (0°), adjustable intermediate position, and fully open (90°). No electro-pneumatic positioner is required for split flow control.
Full Open and Full Close position adjustment.When in closed or open position, the two adjustable bolts can adjust the actuator from extra -5° to +5°accurately at 0° or 90°. Screw the adjustable bolts at clockwise or counterclockwise direction, and lock nut in the right position.
It is matched with ball valves, butterfly valves and dampers, widely used in dosing filling, flow diversion, segmented feeding, water treatment, chemical industry and HVAC system.

Dedicated 3-position actuator relies on mechanical stop by auxiliary pistons, with fixed position and high repeatability, no drift during long-term operation. Standard actuator + 5/3 solenoid valve holds mid-position by trapped air. Minor seal leakage causes slow position shifting over time, not suitable for dosing & metering processes requiring stable opening.
Q: What is the adjustable range of intermediate angle? Is cylinder disassembly required for adjustment?
Adjustable range: 0°~90°, typical setting: 30°/45°/60°. Adjustment is completed by external screws on end caps. No cylinder disassembly needed.
Q: Which solenoid valve should be matched with 3-position actuator?
Dual-coil 5/2 solenoid valves are recommended (one coil for fully open, another for intermediate position). 5/3 center closed valves are NOT recommended as a substitute for mechanical 3-position actuator. NAMUR mount solenoid valves are available for compact assembly.
