Is the pneumatic ball valve installed in any direction?

Sep 26, 2021

Is there a direction when the ball valve is installed? Theoretically, the ball valve has no direction, but in the actual application process, in order to avoid the leakage of the valve body and the bonnet, the ball valve body is generally connected with the direction of the material medium. Some ball valves are directional and will give an arrow indication on the ball valve body. If the installation is reversed, there is no way to ensure the sealing.

The ball valve is divided into two types, one-way sealing ball valve and two-way sealing ball valve. Obviously, one-way sealing ball valve has a direction. If it is installed in reverse, the sealing performance of the valve cannot be guaranteed, and it may even cause production accidents. The two-way sealing ball valve is not restricted by the installation direction.
Manual ball valves have no direction, while ball valves with actuators have directions. V-shaped ball valves and eccentric hemispherical valves are directional, and generally indicate the flow direction of the medium on the valve body. Floating ball valve and fixed ball valve are bidirectional and are not restricted by the installation direction.
In practical applications, the characteristics of the products supplied by each manufacturer should also be considered. The key is to see whether there is a flow direction indicator on the ball valve body. If not, it is a two-way seal, regardless of the installation direction; if there is a flow direction indicator, Install in strict accordance with the directions, so as to play the role of the ball valve.
